7.3: Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of China in the Middle Ages.
8.2.6: Enumerate the powers of government set forth in the Constitution and the fundamental liberties ensured by the Bill of Rights.
8.4.1: Describe the country’s physical landscapes, political divisions, and territorial expansion during the terms of the first four presidents.
8.4.3: Analyze the rise of capitalism and the economic problems and conflicts that accompanied it

Students will be able to:
1. Assessed on the rise of the Gupta Empire, Hinduism, and Buddhism. (7th Grade)
2. Assessed on Jefferson’s Presidency. (8th Grade).

Anticipatory Set (10 min.) Daily Journals: Students will read two excerpts from "This Day in History" and answer the daily essential question using the information in the short passage.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
7th Grade-SDAIE: Model: Gupta Empire Test: Teacher will direct students on opening up their test on Edulastic.
8th Grade-SDAIE: Model: Jefferson’s Presidency Test: Teacher will direct students on opening up their test on Edulastic.
Guided Practice (15 min.)
7th Grade-SDAIE: TPS: Progress monitoring: Teacher will direct students to the test and assure students logged on are taking the test. Help students out with missing assigments.
8th Grade-SDAIE: TPS: Progress Monitoring: Teacher will direct students to the test and assure students logged on are taking the test. Help students out with missing assigments.
Independent Practice (40 min.)
7th Grade-SDAIE: Metacognition: Gupta Empire Test: Students will answer a series of questions dealing with the Gupta Empire in preparation of the their test for the next class session.
8th Grade-SDAIE: Metacognition: Jefferson’s Presidency Test: Students will complete a series of riddled type questions as Jefferson recounts his presidency. Students will have to figure out what event is being described.
Homework.
