Today I am learning about my classmates, team, and procedures by:
Understanding the grading policy.
Explaining general information about Curtis Middle School and my Jaguar team.
Identifying and Understandigng the SBCUSD Social Skills.
Common Core Literacy Standard
WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Students will take their seats and take out their graphic organizer. For Periods 2-7 a student will pass back their graphic organizer. They will discuss withing their groups using a Voice Level of 2 "What do you like so far about returning to school?"
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Sentence Stems: Grading Policy Mobile & Tardy Policy: Teacher will go over the grading policy, mobile, LLR/HLR's and tardy policy for the class. Students will fill in their graphic organizer. Teacher will provide sentence stems for students to use as they summarize the mobile and tardy policy.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Realia: Curtis Middle School Tour: Teacher will take students on a quick tour of the school campus. Teacher will demonstrate the evacuation zone, point out the restrooms in the F wing, MU Room, Library, Office, and Counselors Room.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Group/Close Sentence: Curtis Middle School 411: Student’s will work as a team of four to complete 7 questions about Curtis Middle School. These questions are questions they should already know from being at Curtis for four days. They are all DOK 1 generic questions ranging from location of school, school admin, time school starts, to their Jaguar teachers.
SDAIE: Video Clips/VIP's/QuickWrite/echo read: Social Skills in Practice: Students will be shown a list of the SBCUSD social skills. Teacher will utilize echo to have students repeat the social skill listed on the board. Students will then watch a video clip from "Stand and Deliver" where students will identify 3 social skills that are not being practiced correctly. Students will then complete a short QuickWrite.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
