Language Objective
Students will be able to explain the life and teachings of Muhammad and the influence he had in the Islam culture. Students will be able to explain the laws and religious guidelines of daily Muslim life.
Journal: Walt Disney built Disneyland, because he had a love of miniature trains. Disneyland opened July 17, 1955. Guests were given tickets for each ride.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.): Daily Journal

Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Compare and Contrast: Religion: Teacher will frontload students in information about the three main religions. Teacher will help students fill in their table matrix comparing and contrasting the three religions.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: T-P-S/Video/BrainPop: Ramadan Teacher will show the BrainPop video about Ramadan and then answer four questions dealing with the video. Students will discuss their answers with their partner. (For some periods that didn’t get it done yesterday)
SDAIE: Close Read/T2T: Connection to Judaism and Christianity: Teacher will lead students in a close read on pages 95-96. Students will then answer questions.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Graphic Organizer/5 pillars of Islam: Students will fill in a table with the 5 Pillars of Islam.
SDAIE: Whisper Read/Diads: Islam beliefs, practice, and law: Students will whisper read pages 94-95 and then with their partners answer the three questions. Teacher will monitor and once they are done will go over the questions.
