Study the early strengths and lasting contributions of Rome (e.g., significance of Roman citizenship; rights under Roman law; Roman art, architecture, engineering, and philosophy; preservation and transmission of Christianity) and its ultimate internal weaknesses (e.g., rise of autonomous military powers within the empire, undermining of citizenship by the growth of corruption and slavery, lack of education, and distribution of news).

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Daily Journal: Stamp Act is Repealed 5 W's.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Discussion: Google Slides: Teacher will discuss the directions on how to complete the assignment. Students will have access to a link about top 10 reasons why Rome fell and they will select 3 of their choice and explain using the CER model.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Google Slides: Teacher will remind students about checking their grammar and spelling. Remind students that they are providing a summary and not just a cut and paste.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: CER: My Top 3 Reasons Rome Fell: Students will use the CER model to summarize their top 3 reasons why Rome fell after reading the 10 reasons why Rome Fell. This is a continuation from Fridays work. Students should just be finalizing their projects.
