Common Core Literacy Standard
WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Seating Chart: Teacher will verify the seating chart again since students are being moved around and/or dropped. While teacher is doing this students will take out a piece of paper and write their name and title of the assignment.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Model: KAMI Intro: Teacher will introduce the software KAMI to students. Teacher will show students how to add it to their computers using the Chrome Web Store.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Model: KAMI: Teacher will go through four tools that students will utilize in completing their daily classwork assignments by using KAMI. Teacher will demonstrate a skill and then students will have to use it to answer their question.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Quad/TPS: Intro to Geography: Students will work in their quads. They will be asked to identify the 7 continents of the world. Each member will be using a pen in which they will select either red, black, green, or blue to associated with that in the assignment. Students will take turns answering the question but communicating their answers as a team.
SDAIE: QW/Annotate: Intro to KAMI: Student’s will complete the KAMI assignment that introduces them to the basic tools of KAMI; text box, annotation, dictionary, inserting pictures, and saving progress.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
