Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Discussion: Roman Republic: Teacher will explain the reading to the students on how Rome functioned as a Republic after the students have read their section. Teacher will use pictures and examples to help students relate to the material.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Think Pair Share: Cloze Paragraph: Origins of Rome: Teacher will go over the answers to the cloze paragraph with the students.
SDAIE: TRQ: The Roman Republic: Teacher and students will review the answers to the Text related questions.
Independent Practice (30 min.)
SDAIE: Think Pair Share/Cloze Paragraph: Origins of Rome: Students will complete a cloze paragraph summary about the reading of the Origins of Rome.
SDAIE: Whisper Read/TRQ: Roman Republic: Students will read pages 48-49 on how Rome functioned as a Republic. Once they are done reading the section students will answer three questions on the section in complete sentences.
