7.1.1: Study the early strengths and lasting contributions of the Rome (preservation and transmission of Christianity)
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am being assessed on Rome's origin by:
1. Identifying the key geographical advatange of Rome.
2. Tracing the expansion of the Roman empire through the expansion of the Punic Wars.
3. Tracing the origins of Christianity.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
Starter Quiz: Students will take their Starter Quiz based on last weeks starters taken from This day in History.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Rome Origins Test: Teacher will go over the procedures for test taking. Students will begin their work on the assessment of the Origins and Rise of Rome.
Guided Practice (x min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitor: Rise of Rome Test: Teacher will walk around the classroom and inspect students progress as they take their test.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Rise of Rome Test: Students will take a test that assess them on the Rise of Rome based on the infomartion that was covered last week. Students will work on the test through edulastic.
