Understanding Geography.
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Students will be able to:
Create an Aeries account and Google Classroom
Identify the 7 continents of the world.
Common Core Literacy Standard
WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: 5 W's: Students will read short passage and identify the 5 W's.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Library Day: Students will be going to the library to obtain or exchange their Chromebooks. Students will also set up their Aeries accounts and Google Classrooms.
SDAIE: Model: Map: Teacher will go over the directions of the assignment and introduce the atlas, physical, and political map. F(inish from yesterday if time is left.)
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Monitor: Aeries/Google Classroom: Teacher will monitor and help students set up their Aeries accounts and Google Classroom with the help of the Librarian and the aides.
SDAIE: Monitor: Teacher will walk around the class monitoring the students. After individual time of 5 minutes per question is up teacher will go over the answers with students. (Finish from yesterday if time is left).
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Realia: Chromebooks: Students will recieve their chromebooks today in the library. Students will set up their SBLink accounts so that they know how to access their Student Textbooks. Students will set up their Aeries accounts and Google Classroom.
SDAIE: sentence stems: Map: Students will complete the map activity. Activity consists of students identifying the 7 continents and then looking at each one separately. They will look at either the political map or physical map to help them answer specific questions associated to each of the 7 continents. (Finish from yesterday if time is left).

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
