7.6: Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of Medieval Europe.
7.6.3: Understand the development of feudalism, its role in the medieval European economy, the way in which it was influenced by physical geography (the role of the manor and the growth of towns), and how feudal relationships provided the foundation of political order.

1. Identify and Explain the development and workings of Feudalism.
2. Describe and Explain the roles and responsibilities of each level of the feudal social hierarchy system.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will read a chunk section of "This Day in History" and answer the essential question in complete sentences.
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Feudalism Hierarchy: Teacher will go over the directions of the assignment.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring: Feudalism Hierarchy: Teacher will monitor the students and make sure they are on task. If students need help teacher will help out.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: VIP (Very Important Points): Feudalism Hierarchy: Students will identify and explain the role of three social classes and explain how they fit in the social system of Feudalism during the Middle Ages.
