Correlation to State Content Standards
7.8.1: Describe the way in which the revival of classical learning and the arts fostered a new interest in humanism.
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about the Renaissance by:
1. Understanding the orgins of the Renaissance.
2. Identifying key characteristics of classical, medieval, and renaissance art.
3. Applying and categorizing three peices of art.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.) Google Classroom: Students will open get their Chromebooks out and open up their assignment through KAMI and be ready for todays lesson.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Mini Lecture: Classical Medieval Renaissance Art: Teacher will provide a mini lecture that highlights the key characteristics of art; classical, medieva, and renaissance. Teacher will explain what the art was used for, how they presented the art form, and key characteristics that distinguishes them apart from each other. Students will write the information provided in their section of the graphic organzier to be used for the analyzing and categorizing of the artwork.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Renassiance Cornell Notes: Teacher will go over the answers to the Cornell Notes that explains the origins of the Renaissacnce and tis purpose. Teacher will provide further examples and clarifications.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Cornell Notes/Chunked Reading/Specific Lexile: The Renaissance : Students will read or use the Speech to Text setting in their computer to understand the movement that was created due to the Renaissance. Reading is chunked and the lexile has been lowered for their comprehension. Cornell Notes are set up with guided notes to guide their reading and improve their comprehension of the content.
SDAIE: TPS/Visuals: Type of Art : Students will work with their partner next to them to analyze and categorize three peices of art that will be presented by the teacher. Students will use their notes to figure out if the artwork being presented is either classical, medieval, or renaissance.
Homework
EdPuzzle: due by Friday at 5 p.m.
