7.6.2: Describe the spread of Christianity north of the Alps and the roles played by the early church and by the monasteries in its diffusion after the fall of the western half of the Roman Empire.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will complete their daily Essential Question from this day in History which is a chunk reading about what happened today in history and students will answer the DOK 1 style question.
Direct Instruction (15 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Reign of Clovis: Teacher will lecture, clarify and provide further information and insight into the reign of Clovis. Will explain to students the social and political impact he had during the Middle Ages. Teacher will also provide information about the legend/myth surrounding Clovis in history.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Reign of Clovis: Teacher and students will go over the answers to the Cornell Notes they took.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Video Clip/Cornell Notes/Talk to the Text: Reign of Clovis: Students will watch a short video clip that covers the information in the text about the reign of Clovis. The students will complete a set of Cornell Notes that covers how Clovis rose to power in Western Europe during the Middle Ages. They will uncover the social and political impact Clovis had during that time and the partnership he made with the Roman Catholic Church.
