Students will be able to:
1. Understand the social, political, and economic impact the Renaissance had on Western Europe after the Middle Ages.
2. Identify the way information was gathered and distributed and its importance in society.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will read a chunk section of "This Day in History" and answer the essential question in complete sentences.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: What was the Renaissance CN: Teacher will help students make a connection with how information was gathered during the Renaissance and now. Linking the past of rewriting books with today's concept of digitalizing everything to make it easier to access information.
Guided Practice (x min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring: What was the Renaissance? CN: Teacher will pace the room to ensure students are on task and to be available to answer students questions.
Independent Practice (12 min.)
SDAIE: Cornell Notes/Talk to the Text/VBQ: What was the Renaissance? CN: Students will read page 462 which deals with the introduction of the Renaissance covering what it was and the purpose of how information was stored, kept alive, and distributed during this time. Students will complete their Cornell Notes with the hints provided by the teacher to guide them to the evidences needed to ensure the objectives are met. Students will then answer a Video Based Question (VBQ) about how the Printing Press help promote the essence of the Renaissance.
