Correlation to State Content Standards
7.5: Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of medieval Japan.
7.5.1: Describe the significance of Japan's proximity to china and Korea and the intellectual, linguistic, religious, and philosophical influence of those countries on Japan.
7.5.2: Discuss the reign of Prince Shotoku of Japan and the characteristics of Japanese society and family life during his reign.
7.5.3: Describe the values, social customs, and traditions prescribed by the lord vassal system consisting of shogun, daimyo, and samurai....
7.5.6: Analyze the rise of a military society in the late twelfth century and the role of the samurai in that society.
7.5.5: Study the ninth and tenth centuries golden age....and its lasting effects on culture today.
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about the medieval Japan by:
1. Reviewing the geographical, political, economic, religious and social structures of the civilization of medieval Japan.

RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
Starter QUIZ: Students will take a quiz filled with DOK 1 questions dealing with information they learned on last weeks starter quiz.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model/Direct Teach: Kahoot: Teacher will go the directions for the Kahoot game.
Guided Practice (x min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitor: Medieval Japan Review: Teacher will progress monitor the room help students out and check completion of work during independent time. Will go over the answers after every 6 minutes.
Independent Practice ( 15 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Group Work/Graphic Organizer: Japan Review: Students will work on their review graphic organizer with their group members. Students will have 6 minutes to answer a series of 3 questions using their previous assignments. If students get done prior to the time expiring they are to raise their hand so teacher can check their work and award them points for the assignments.
