Direct Practice. (10 min)
SDAIE: Close Read/Talk to text: The First Crusade: Teacher will lead the class on the reading of the first crusades from their textbook pages 163-164. Teacher will use talk to the text to help students locate the answers to their Focus Notes.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Second Crusade: Teacher will go over thee answer to the close paragraph dealing with the Second Crusade.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Chunk Reading/Close Paragraph/Video: The Second Crusade: Students will read a chunked section dealing with the events of the Second Crusade. Students will then be asked to complete a Close Paragraph that dealt with their comprehension of the events that took place during the Second Crusade. Students will then watch a video clip from Kingdom of Heaven that shows the Crusaders battling for Jerusalem and an introduction to Saladin.
SDAIE: Cornell Notes: Third Quarter: Students will read the events of the Third Crusade and complete their Cornell Notes. The Cornell Notes include the hints that will guide students in finding the important information from the passage.
