Direct Instruction (15 min.)
SDAIE: Close Read: Credentials of an emperor: Teacher will cloze read the selection form the book Women in the Purple. After they are done reading it they will annotate and answer an essential question.
Guided Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: CER/QW: Credentials of an emperor: Teacher will help students to write their Claim, Evidence, and Reason for the the QuickWrite.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Annotate: Empress Theodora: Students will annotate the section by themselves after the teacher has Close Read the selection. Teacher will monitor then go over the important information.
SDAIE: TRQ/TPS: Understanding Empress Theodora: Students will answer 3 Text related questions. Students will cite their secondary source to justify their conclusion.
