7.6: Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of Medieval Europe.
7.6.3: Understand the development of feudalism, its role in the medieval European economy, the way in which it was influenced by physical geography (the role of the manor and the growth of towns), and how feudal relationships provided the foundation of political order.

Students will be able to:
1. Understand and Explain the development and workings of Feudalism.
2. Describe and Explain the roles and responsibilities of each level of the feudal social hierarchy system.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will read a chunk section of "This Day in History" and answer the essential question in complete sentences.
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Video Clips: Feudalism Hierarchy: Teacher will lecture on how the social hierarchy worked during the Middle Ages and provide further clarification and examples. Students will also be presented with video clips.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Feudalism Hierarchy: Students will make corrections or add any further information that they did not receive from their classmates when they shared out their information.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Group Work/Carousel: Feudalism Hierarchy: Students will be given one tier of the feudal hierarchy. They will read the role and responsibility for the tier of Lords and Ladies, Knights, and Peasants. Once they gather the information asked in the Graphic Organizer they will share their answers within the same tier. Once students have verified their information they will go around sharing their information taking one tier and giving the tier they worked on.
