Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: VIP’s: Origins of Rome: Teacher will provide students with VIP’s about the origins of Rome and how it started.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Close QuickWrite: Origins of Rome: Teacher will explain how to complete the assignment based on the information they just received. Students will write down the missing word in recalling the Origins of Rome. Read with students p. 48 of textbook to complete the second paragraph of the close paragraph.
Independent Practice (30 min.)
SDAIE: Think Pair Share: Voc. Word: Students will define the following words; republic, Augustus, empire, emperor and Christianity. After students are done go over the vocabulary.
SDAIE: Think Pair Share: Lasting Contributions: Teacher will showcase primary sources (pictures) and students will have to decipher what they are and what is it that Rome wants us to remember. Then they will justify their findings.
