Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Students will be able to:
Review classroom expectations and procedures.
Describe basic information about Curtis Middle School.
Identify four images from around the world.
Common Core Literacy Standard
WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Attendance: Teacher will take attendance and pass out the days assignment. Teacher will introduce themselves to the class.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Review Classroom Expectations and Procedures: Teacher will go over the directions of the assignment. Teacher will explain each section of the four boxes and allow students independent time before they review their answers with their peers.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Review Classroom Procedures and Expectations: Teacher will go over the answers with the students after each box. Teacher may take volunteers or due to time simply go over them.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Know Your Jaguar Teachers: Student’s will analyze a picture that is tied to one of their Jaguar teachers. Students will have to name the subject, teacher, and room number.
SDAIE: Diads/Think Pair Share/Cloze Sentences: Curtis Middle School 411: Students complete the cloze sentences that deals with basic information about Curtis Middle School. Sentences deal from the street the school is at to the mascot.
SDAIE: TPS/Visual: Where in the World: Students will analyze four pictures dealing with sixth grade standard monuments they should have covered last year. They will have to identify the image to figure out where the image is located.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
