Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will complete their starter prompt in which they will read a short passage and answer an essential question with evidence from the text.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Aqueduct Instructions: Teacher will go over the directions on what students will be doing and what they can and cannot do with the the supplies being provided by them.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Roman Empire Review: Teacher and students will go over the answers to the Roman Empire Review questions.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Groups/VBQ: Roman Aqueducts: Students will watch a video on the importance of the aqueducts and the role they played in the Roman Empire. Students will answer a vide based questions focusing on how the aqueducts worked. Finally students will use two cups, one cup full of water, two straws, and a pair of scissors. Students goal is to have water go from the cup full of water to the empty on its own power.
