Anticipatory Set (10 min.)
Starter: Students will read and identify the 5 W's of events in This Day in History.... Teacher will go over answers with the students.
Direct Instruction (15 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Model: Colonial Digital Breakout: Teacher will explain how the digital breakout works and give the students 7 minutes to answer the first question before going over as a class so students understand how to complete the assignment. This will serve as a review game for Thursday Test. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Model: Mayan Achievements: Teacher will go over the assignment directions. Teacher will also go over the sentence stems of the questions before each video is presented. (7th Grade)
Guided Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Think Aloud/TPS: Colonial Digital Breakout: Teacher will go over the answers to the Digital Outbreak and go through the thinking process to help students understand the question. (8th Grade).
SDAIE: TPS: Mayan Achievements VBQ: Teacher and students will go over the answers to the section. (7 Grade)
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Colonial Digital Breakout: Students will be put to the test as they encounter 10 questions dealing with the Colonization of the America. The series of questions will ask students to recall all of what they have learned to be able to answer the riddles to progress to the next question. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: VBQ: Mayan Achievements: Students will apply their listening skills as they watch a series of 4 video clips dealing with the Mayan achievements. Videos will lead to students answering 4 questions about the importance of the achievements. (7th Grade).
Homework
EdPuzzle: Complete the EdPuzzle by Friday 5 pm.
Closure (5 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Answer questions from students
3. Have students turn in assignment
4. Take roll again

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
