Students will be able to:
1. Review classroom procedures and expectations.
2. Summarize events that took place during break.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
Daily Journals: Students will complete their daily starter based on "This Day in History." Students will be given a reading that is out of order. Students will have to rad and place the reading in order of CLAIM, STATEMENT, EVIDENCE and CONCLUSION.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Teacher will go over the directions of both assignments. Teacher will give directions on how to play Kahoot. After each question from the Kahoot procedures teacher will clarify the procedures and expectations. Then after the Kahoot teaches will provide the directions tot he Padlet assignment.
Guided Practice (x min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitor: Kahoot/Padlet: Teacher will monitor through the Kahoot and Padlet program as well as walking around the classroom and using proximity to ensure students are completing the work and staying on task. On going.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Kahoot: Students will participate on a Kahoot game dealing with Classroom Expectations and Procedures. Students will be able to review the procedures and expectations.
SDAIE: Metacognition/TPS: Padlet: Students will be directed in answering ten questions. Questions will be a mixture of review questions from the units covered during the third quarter (Africa, China, and Japan). The other questions will be based on what the students did during the break.
Homework.
EdPuzzle: Ancient Rome Overview due by Friday at 5 p.m.
Closure (5 min.)
1. Clean up.
