Students will be able to:
1. Trace the influence of Roman art, philosophy, and language on later societies.
Literacy Standard
RH 3: Analyze how and why individuals, events, and ideas develop and interact over the course of a text.
Anticipatory Set (10 min.)
SDAIE: CER QW: Greatest Invention: Students will write a CER QuickWrite on what they think is the greatest invention of all time. Teacher will produce a CLAIM for those students who are having trouble creating one.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Lecture: Art, Philosophy, Society: Teacher will emphasize and elaborate on the reading completed by the students dealing with Roman art, philosophy, and society.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: VIP’s: Impact on Roman Culture: Teacher will provide students with VIP’s on the cultural impact that Rome had in its empire and the World.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Whisper Read/VIP's: Art, Philosophy, Society: Students will read pages 67-68 from their textbooks dealing with the three categories. Once they are done they will take down 4 notes on the impact Rome had on each of those categories.
Homework.
