Anticipatory Set (5 min.)

Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Discussion: Roman Contributions: Teacher will elaborate on a few of the the Roman contributions still evident today.
Guided Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Think Pair Share: Lasting Contributions: Teacher will showcase primary sources (pictures) and students will have to decipher what they are and what is it that Rome wants us to remember. Then they will justify their findings.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Think Pair Share: Roman Empire Map: Students will identify the Roman Empire by shading in their blank maps. Then they will locate and label Rome along with the Alps and Apennines Mountains. They will use the map to answer two map related questions.
SDAIE: Think Pair Share: Rome Vocabulary: Students will define Tier 2 and Tier 3 vocabulary terms that will be used throughout the unit in their own words.
