Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will read a chunk section of "This Day in History" and answer the essential question in complete sentences.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Education in the Middle Ages: As teacher goes over the answers to the Focus Notes in this section, the teacher will clarify and provide further explanations of how education was ran during the Middle Ages. Teacher will also introduce and explain the 4 principles of Natural Law laid out by Thomas Aquinas; Eternal, Natural, Human, and Divine Law.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Graphic Organizer: Teacher will go over the answers and provide further clarification.
Independent Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: Focus Notes: Education in Middle Ages: Students will read page 72 in their textbook. As they read the section they will identify the facts/evidence that will answer the three questions provided by the teacher for this unit. Students will be required to only obtain the facts/evidence and not write in complete sentences. Students must comprehend the question and the reading to assure facts/evidence are correct.
