Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Cloze Read/Graphic Organizer: Shot Heard 'Round the World : Teacher will will Cloze read the section with the students. Students will answer the essential question that goes along with the reading. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Cloze Read: Rise of the Incan Civilization: Teacher will Cloze read the Rise of the Inca Civilization. Students will answer the essential question that goes along with the reading. (7th Grade)
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Think Aloud: Shot Heard 'Round the World : Teacher will model think aloud to get students to locate the important information from the passage. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: TPS/Graphic Organizer/: Out of Order: Teacher will go over the answers to the Lexington and Concord Out of Order. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Think Aloud/Annotate/Cornell Notes: Rise of Incan Civilization: Teacher will use think aloud to guide students in annotating the passage. Teacher will go further from the reading and help students make a connections. (7th Grade).
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Graphic Organizer/: Out of Order: Students will take 4 visuals and put them in order on how they unfolded during the battle of Lexington and Concord and provide an explanation. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: VBQ/Sentence Stem/DOK: Lexington and Concord: Students will watch a video clip based on Lexinton and Concord and answer DOK 1-2 questions to check for understanding. Students will write the sentence to the six questions before the video begins.
SDAIE: Picture Annotate: Picture Analysis : Students will annotate a picture and use the guided questions to help them annotate the picture where they will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of the Inca empire. (7th grade)
SDAIE: Cornell Notes: Inca Class Structure : Students will read pages 412-413. After each paragraph students will use the hints provided by the teacher to locate the important information from each paragraph.
