Direct Instruction (20 min.)
SDAIE: VIP's/Graphic Organizer: Key Players : Teacher will introduce the key players of the Boston Massacre as students write down notes. Notes will be displayed on the screen while teacher explains and gives examples. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Cloze Read/Chunk: Aztec Advancements: Teacher will Close read the three chunked passages from the book dealing with the Aztec Advancements. Teacher will use think aloud to guide students annotations.(7th Grade)
Guided Practice (20 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Graphic Organizer/VBQ: Boston Massacre British Accounts: Teacher will review the answers to the notes students should have gotten and explain what is going on and why history books do not include the information. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Think Aloud/Annotate: Aztec Civilization : Teacher will go over the answers to the Aztec Civilization; the annotations and ordering the pictures in order. (7th Grade).
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Graphic Organizer/VBQ: Boston Massacre British Accounts: Students will watch video clips from HBO's John Adams in which describes the accounts from the perspective of British Captain Prescott. Students will summarize the accounts and then be asked to explain who was at fault. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Think Aloud/Annotate: Aztec Advancements : Students will annotate the passage of the Aztecs. Advancements. They will also watch videos that go along with that advancement for visual aide. Students will then answer the essential questions for each chunked passage. (7th grade)
SDAIE: Picture Annotate: Aztec Advancement : Students will look at Diego Rivera's painting of the Aztec in the Market place. Using the information they have learned about the Aztecs they will circle and provide an explanation of prove dealing with Aztecs origins, social class, civilization, and advancements.
Homework

Closure (5 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Dismiss Class.

EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
