1. Explain, locate and Identify key geography features of the Arabian Peninsula and the importance of it being int the crosswords of three continents.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Daily Journal: Historical Fact: There had been many attempts to colonize North America by European countries. After the failed attempt at Roanoke, no one thought it could be done. Finally Jamestown, became the first permanent English settlement which was founded in 1607.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Cloze Read: The Arabian Peninsula: Teacher will complete the the Cloze Read about the Arabian Peninsula. After words students will get the directions about labeling the Arabian Peninsula with the four facts provided.
Guided Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Annotate/talk to text: The Arabian Peninsula: Teacher will guide students in annotating the text after each paragraph by using talking to the text.
SDAIE: Annotate: Labeling The Arabian Peninsula: Teacher will review with the students the answers of the correct labeling of the
Arabian Peninsula.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: TRQ: Mapping: Students will label the Arabian Peninsula using the four questions provided.. Students will answer questions using the map and the passage. The questions are geared to make students analyze the map and provide an explanation.
