WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Teacher will ask students to model introducing themselves to a member of their group using voice level of 2.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Discussion: Expectations: Teacher will go over the classroom expectations.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Model/Role play: Mixed between the expectations students will discuss or role play proper classroom behavior.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: QW/TPS/Diads: All About Me: Students will be asked to write a mini biography about themselves and draw a picture with description about Their Past, The Present, The Future (10 years), by the end of 8th grade." Once they are done with that, students will get up and introduce themselves to four other students and write down what they learned about their classmates. Then they will draw a picture/symbol that best represents what they all share in common.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
