Anticipatory Set (3 min):
Starter Quiz: Students will complete their Starter Quiz based on last weeks starters.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Video Clip: Maya 101: Students will watch a video and decide if the Mayan were civilized and would have to provide one example from the video. Students will discuss their answer with the group. Videos will be inserted as transitions between assignments.
SDAIE: Cloze Read/Talking to Text: Mayan Class Structure: Teacher will Cloze Read the section Class Structure. Teacher will use talking to the text to help them in selecting the appropriate job responsibilities in the tier of the class pyramid.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Mayan Class Structure: Teacher will go over the answers of the Mayan social class pyramid responsibilities.
Independent Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Whisper Read/TPS: Maya Class Structure: Students will read the class structure section on page 374-375 and complete the class structure pyramid. They will write down 3 key responsibilities for each class level.
Homework
Complete Edpuzzle "The Mayan Disappearance" due September 17, 2021.
Closure (2 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Dismiss Class.

EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
