Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teaching: Colonial Postcard: Teacher will go over the directions about creating a Postcard. Students will chose one of the colonies and use the information from their graphic organizer to invite someone over. Criteria is on the postcard along with rubric. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Discussion: Clever TCI Portal: Teacher will direct students on how to log on to TCI through clever. (7th Grade)
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Colonial Postcard: Teacher will show examples of postcards from around famous city destination. (8th Grade)
SDAIE:Model: TCI Online Textbook: Teacher will showcase the features of the new TCI online textbook. Once that is done, students will read or listen to the section they are assigned ranging from pages 374-381. (7th Grade).
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: CER: Colonial Postcard: Students will write a postcard. In the postcard they will try to persuade someone to come over to that colony. They will mention 3 reasons the colony is better than the others and what sets it apart. Students will then create a drawing in the front of the postcard along with a slogan for their colony. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Auditory: Maya GRAPES: As students read or listen to textbook they will fill in their graphic GRAPE organizer according to the topic they were given; Class Structure, Family Life, Religious Beliefs and Practices, Agricultural Techniques. (GRAPE is an acronym for Geography, Religion, Agriculture, Politics, Economics). (7th grade)
