Correlation to State Content Standards
7.8.1: Describe the way in which the revival of classical learning and the arts fostered a new interest in humanism.
7.8.2: Explain the importance of Florence in the early stages of the Renaissance and the growth of independent cities....
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about the Renaissance by:
1. Explaining the impact humanism had on people during the Renaissance.
2. Creating an original invention to benefit humankind.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.) Google Classroom: Students will open get their Chromebooks out and open up their assignment through KAMI and be ready for todays lesson.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Mini Lecture: What's that art: Teacher will lecture on the three peices of art students were suppose to analyze and categorize for homework over the weekend. Teacher will go over the thinking process and what the students was suppose to be looking at to help them categorize the art into either classical, medieval, or renaissance art.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Cradle of the Renaissance: Teacher will go over the answers to cradle of the Renaissance that students had to read and fill in the answers to the sentence stems based on their comprehension of the reading.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Sentence stems/Chunked Reading/Dropped Lexile: Cradle of the Renaissance : Students will read or use the Speech to Text setting in their computer to complete the reading. The reading as been chunked and lexile reading has been dropped to help students comprehend the reading. As students complete the reading they will fill in the missing evidence from the sentence stems to show comprehension of the material.
SDAIE: Cornell Notes/Guided Notes/Talk to Text/Chunked Reading/Dropped Lexile: The City of Florence : Students will read or use the Speech to Text setting in their computer to complete the reading. The reading as been chunked and lexile reading has been dropped to help students comprehend the reading. Students will complete a set of Cornell Notes that have guided notes to guide their comprehension. The reading will focus on the importance of Florence and why it was the birth of the Renaissance.
Homework
Complete any box you didn't complete in class at home and turn it in.
Closure ( 3 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Take question/comments/announcements
3. Reset Edpuzzle for those needed.
