Anticipatory Set (4 min.)
Journal: Historical Facts: Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452 in the Italian region of where Tuscany is now. Unlike other well-known Renaissance artists, da Vinci never received any kind of formal education. The “Mona Lisa” is one of his most famous pieces of art work.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Close Read: Islamic Beliefs, Practices, and Law: Teacher will lead the class on a close reading of the section on page 94-95. After each section teacher will use “Talk to the Text” after each paragraph to help students improve their comprehension of the reading.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Dialectical Journal: Muhammad: Teacher will guide students on a response to their dialectical journals. The responses could be either a response, reaction, question, prediction, or interpretation.
SDAIE: TPS: BrainPop-Islam: Teacher will go over the video and the answers to the BrianPop dealing with Islam.
Independent Practice (30 min.)
SDAIE: Close Paragraph: Teachings of Muhammad: Students will use the information they gathered from their Cornell Notes to complete a summary of the life and teachings of Muhammad.
SDAIE: Whisper Read/TRQ: Islam Beliefs, Practices, and Laws: Students will read the section on page 94-95 and then answer three Text Related Questions.
SDAIE: TPS: BrainPop-Islam: Students will watch a BrainPop video and answer the questions about Ramadan.
