Correlation to State Content Standards
7.6: Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of Medieval Europe.
7.6.3: Understand the development of feudalism, its role in the medieval European economy, the way in which it was influenced by physical geography (the role of the manor and the growth of towns), and how feudal relationships provided the foundation of political order.
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Students will be able to:
1. Understand and Explain the development and workings of Feudalism.
2. Describe and Explain the roles and responsibilities of each level of the feudal social hierarchy system.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Starter: Students will complete the Starter Quiz based on last weeks Starters.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Feudalism Hierarchy: Teacher will go over the directions to the assignment. Students will be given time to work on the assignment on their own then 5 minutes to talk over their notes with their group members before sharing their answers with the students.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring: Feudalism Hierarchy: Teacher will walk around the room and provide help and check to insure students are obtaining the right answer. Before letting the students go on their own, teacher will show how many notes need to be in each section.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Group Work/Carousel: Feudalism Hierarchy: Students will be given one tier of the feudal hierarchy. They will read the role and responsibility for the tier of Lords and Ladies, Knights, and Peasants. Once they gather the information asked in the Graphic Organizer they will share their answers within the same tier. Once students have verified their information they will go around sharing their information taking one tier and giving the tier they worked on.
