Students will be able:
1. Examine Japan’s literacy style and themes associated with Japanese art.
2. Create their own Haiku's.
3. Identify tier 1 and 2 vocabulary dealing with the Japanese hierarchy.
Language Objective
Students will be able to explain the significant of Japan’s religion and the arts. Students will be able to explain and create a Haiku.

SDAIE: Model: Origami: Teacher will show students how to make an origami crane. Students will then explain the purpose of origami and is it a useful form of relaxation.
Independent Practice (15 min.) You Do…
SDAIE: Realia: Name that Buddhism: Students will have to identify the type of Buddhism that is being displayed within their scenarios. Two of them will be a movie clip and students will have to describe the clip with a brief explanation.
SDAIE: Realia: Haiku: Students will answer two questions dealing with Haikus. Students will then have to create one Haiku and share with the class.
