Correlation to State Content Standards
8.1.1: Describe the relationship between the moral and political ideas of the Great Awakening and the development of revolutionary fervor.
7.7.2: Study the roles of people in each society, including class structures, family life, war fare, religious beliefs and practices, and slavery.

Common Core Literacy Standard

Anticipatory Set (10 min.)
Starter: Students will read and identify the 5 W’s of events in “This Day in History....” Teacher will go over answers with the students.
Direct Instruction (15 min.)
SDAIE: VIP’s/Video Clips/Graphic Organizer: Witness Accounts: Teacher will introduce the witness and provide explanation of what they are talking about so students could get further understandings. (8th Grade) (Per. 6,7)
SDAIE: Graphic Organizers: Revolutionary Digital Outbreak : Teacher will explain the assignment. Students will have 25 minutes to answer the Digital Outbreak questions. Students can use their last week assignments and the internet to try and answer the questions. These questions serve as a Check for Understanding and Review for the Test on Thursday/Friday. 8th Grade(Per. 2 only)
SDAIE: Model/CER/Video Clips: Aztec Advancements: Teacher will model how to complete the assignment as they take notes during the video clips and how to answer the questions using Claim, Evidence, Reason method taught in English classes. (7th Grade) (Per. 5 only)
Guided Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Graphic Organizers: Revolutionary Digital Outbreak : Teacher will go over the answers to the outbreak. Students will screenshot and email teacher the last question they were working on prior to going over the answers.
SDAIE: Model/CER/Video Clips: Aztec Advancements: Teacher will go over the answers. Students will make their corrections. (7th Grade) (Per. 5 only)
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: VIP’s/Video Clips/Graphic Organizer: Witness Accounts & Verdict: Students will watch witness accounts of the Boston Massacre and take notes. Based on all the information they gathered students will write a QuickWrite explaining their verdict and why. (8th Grade) (Per. 6,7)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Aztec Digital Outbreak Review: Students work on a review game, Digital Outbreak, on the Aztec Civilization. They can use their notes and the internet to try to complete the series of 10 questions. All questions were taken from the students assignments and students cannot progress to the next question until they answer the question correctly.
Homework.
EdPuzzle video clip and question due by Friday, October 9 at 5 p.m.
Closure (5 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Remind students to turn in assignments
3. Answer any questions/concerns.
4. Exit class.
