Anticipatory Set (4 min.)
Journal: Historical Facts: The Aztecs were society orientated people and believed in education, art, and family. The punishment for disobeying the law often death. Their deceased were often buried along with a dog so that he could help them to the afterlife.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Close Reading: Life & Teachings of Muhammad: Teacher will lead the class on a close reading of the section on page 93-94. After each section teacher will use “Talk to the Text” to guide students in acquiring their Cornell Notes.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Cornell Notes: Life/Teaching of Muhammad: After each section teacher will use “Talk to the Text” to guide students in acquiring their Cornell Notes.
SDAIE: TPS: BrainPop-Islam: Teacher will go over the video and the answers to the BrianPop dealing with Islam.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Close Paragraph: Teachings of Muhammad: Students will use the information they gathered from their Cornell Notes to complete a summary of the life and teachings of Muhammad.
SDAIE: Whisper Read/TRQ: Islam Beliefs, Practices, and Laws: Students will read the section on page 94-95 and then answer three Text Related Questions.
