Correlation to State Content Standards
7.8.2: Explain the importance of Florence in the early stages of the Renaissance and the growth of independent trading cities, with emphasis on the cities' importance in the spread of Renaissance ideas.
7.8.5: Detail advances made in literature, the arts, science, mathematics, cartography, engineering, and the understanding of human anatomy and astronomy.
Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about the Renaissance by:
1. Identifying the advancements of the Renaissance.
2. Analyzing and explaining Renaissance art by identifying the new techniques being developed.

Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/EQ/Chunk Reading: Daily Starter: Students will read a chunked passage from History Channels "This day in History" and answer the essential question.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Advancements in Renaissance Art: Teacher will go over the directions to the assignment. Teacher will instruct students were they can find the chunk reading and how to complete the assignment.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring/Direct Teach/Mini Lecture/Video Clips/Visuals: Advancements in Renaissance Art: Teacher will go over the answers to the assignment. Before going over the answers teacher will mark on their assignment how much they got done on their own with the time allotted. Teacher will explain through mini lectures of each section and provide a video clip and visuals for further clarification.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Chunked Reading/VIP's/Talk to text/TPS: Advancements in Renaissance Art: Students will be given four categories; architecture & engineering, painting, sculpture, literature. Students will read a chunked passage from the textbook and find 5 facts from each category on how it was improved during the Renaissance.
SDAIE: QW: Analyzing Renaissance Art: Students will be given four examples of Renaissance art and using their previous notes complete a QuickWrite about the art and the new techniques they observe to be able to distinguish it as Renaissance art.
Homework.
