Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Movie Clip: Tension Brewing : Teacher will show a video clip that explains how British is sending more troops to the colonies and Boston to keep them in line. We will discuss the problems that will lead too. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Model: Religious beliefs and practices: Students will be given direction of the assignment. They will start with an Edpuzzle explaining the importance of corn. (7th Grade)
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Cloze Read/Annotate: Death By Taxes : Teacher will cloze read the Acts/taxes that Britain was placing on the colonist. Teacher will use Think aloud to guide students to understanding the passage as they highlight the evidence in the text. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Model: Religious beliefs and practices: Teacher will go over the answers to the cloze paragraph. Teacher will explain in further and check student understanding. (7th Grade).
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Annotate/Dialectical Journal: Death by taxes: Students will annotate the passage after rereading it. After that they will explain what the tax, how they protested, add spin control and show your support. Teacher will explain what is "Spin Control" and how it is used in real life with the media with celebrities and political figures. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Cloze Paragraph/Audio/Concept Web: Religious beliefs and practices: Students will either read or listen to text being read. Once students are done, they will complete a summary of the reading. They will have 10 minutes to complete the summary. After reviewing the summary, students will complete a concept web where they write down 2-4 notes on four categories from the reading.(7th grade)

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
