Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Journal: Stater Quiz: Students will answer a four questions based on last weeks starters.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: CLOSE READ/Annotate: Geography of Rome: Teacher will lead students in a reading of the geography of Rome. Teacher will utilize talk to the text/aloud to guide students in annotating the passage to improve comprehension.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Board to Paper: Rome Map: Teacher and students will map out the geographical features of Rome on the map based on the reading students completed and annotated.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Close Read: Rome benefits from Geography: Students will explain the 6 geographical features that benefited Rome by providing an explanation.
