SDAIE: Journal: Using the 8th grade textbook, turn to page 630-631 and locate the cities in the following coordinates:
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Cloze Read: MA Colony: Teacher will CLOZE read the section on the colony of Massachusetts. After the paragraph teaccher will use think aloud to check if any information from our worksheet could be filled in using the headings as a guide. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Cloze Read: Three Period Maya Civilization : Teacher will read the first section of the textbook to model how to complete the assignment. Before the reading, students will watch a short clip and discuss a video question with their group. (7th Grade)
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/think aloud: MA Colony: Teacher will model how to complete the assignment. After each paragraph read teacher will go into the worksheet to fill in any information that could be filled in based on the categories. (8th Grade)
SDAIE:TPS: Three Period Maya Civilization: Teacher will go over the answer and provide more explanation and clarification. (7th Grade)
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Take one Leave One: Establishing the Colonies: Teacher will assign one colony to a group. The group will be responsible for becoming experts in the colony. Once all groups are done students will share their answer with other students in a Take one leave one method. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Monitor/TPS: Three Period Maya Civilization: Students will read the remainder of the chapter and take down notes. They will share their answer after 10 minutes and make any changes on their own. (7th grade)
