1. Review classroom procedures and expectations in Mr. Moreno's classroom.
2. Locate and Identify key geographical features of Asia.

RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.

Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
Daily Journals: Students will take a Quiz that reviews the basic classroom expectation and procedures in Mr. Moreno's classroom.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Close Read/Chunk Reading/Annotation/Talk to Text: Geo Challenge Imperial China: Teacher will lead class in a close reading of the chunked section and use Talk to the text to guide students in their annotations. Students will use their annotations to answer the essential question at the end.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: TPS: Geo Challenge Imperial China: Teacher will go over the answers to the annotations and provide further explanation of the reading.
Independent Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Book to Paper: China Map Activity: Students will use their textbook pages 264-265 to label the key physical features like seas, deserts, rivers, and mountain regions.
Homework.
EdPuzzle: Chinese Dynasties due Friday by 5 pm.
