Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/CER: Roanoke's Conspiracy: Teacher will go over the instructions of the assigment and the use of the multi colored pen; Blue is for Claim, Green is for Evidence, and Red is for Reason(8th Grade)
SDAIE: Model: Balloon Globe : Teacher will go over the directions for creating their globe on a balloon and read the directions to them. Teacher will answer any question. Teacher will model how to work in pairs. (7th Grade)
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/CER: Roanoke's Mystery: Teacher will model think aloud and proper CER writing with the students to answer questions based on Roanoke. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Monitor: Balloon Globe: Teacher will monitor the class as they students work in pairs. (7 Grade)
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/CER: Roanoke's Mystery: Students will gather information and write down a quick summary of the new evidence that has been uncovered about what really happened to the colony of Roanoke. Students will decide if the information presented to them is enough to change what history has told us about Roanoke or should we change the information. (8th Grade)
SDAIE: Monitor: Balloon Globe: Students will work in pairs to complete their globe. They will label the continents, cut out the continents and then paste them on the balloon. (7 Grade)
