Corona Virus & the World Calamities

Corona Virus & the World Calamities

By Tarif Youssef-Agha

As all the calamities we have are not enough,

Every day a new one arrives

As soon as one war ends, another starts,

Leaving millions of orphans and widows

Forcing whole nations out of their homes,

Turning them into refugees with nowhere to go

And have you heard about dictators?

They, as God, take and spare lives

And all those natural disasters,

Nothing saves us from storms and earthquakes

As if all that was not enough,

Now we have the Corona virus burning us

The problem now is not where it came from, or how,

The problem now is that we don’t have a cure

It quarantined cities and shut down countries,

Then started eating us, the people

It put the whole world on its toes,

We don’t know how many victims it will claim tomorrow

We don’t know the numbers of tomorrow,

Those of the morning and those of the evening

It is harvesting souls as they are wheat spikes,

Moving among us holding sickles and knives

It is harvesting souls, right and left,

Harvesting strangers and beloved ones alike

No one knows where we are going,

The virus has assigned itself as the judge and the executioner

The whole humanity, until further notice,

Became a hostage in the hand of Corona
