Two Years

Two Years

By Tarif Youssef Agha

Two years and our people are still being slaughtered by knives

Two years and the whole world is doing nothing but barking

A country is swimming in its blood

While everyone is playing, as in theater

The people of Syria understand, beyond any doubt, now

What the whole world wants for them

***

Two years and our people live with massacres

The whole world is watching them moving to refugee camps

Even so some profiteers take advantage of their miseries

As it is pure business

Meanwhile others accuse some fighters of being terrorists

It looks like nobody wants our revolution to succeed

Every time a request by the world is met, another one comes

It looks like nobody wants our revolution to win

It looks like the whole world is in the same bed with our regime

The world closes its eyes while our regime gets more violent

The Iranians thinks that Syria is a province of Iran

While the Russians want to save their military bases there

The Chinese want to keep their business with Assad

And the Israelis do not want to give away the Golan

Everyone has his reason to support the Assad regime

Obviously nobody cares about our people

We will not trust anyone anymore

We will not trust but our guns

The butchers are those who will leave Syria

We will stay

Even if mountains could move from their spots

Still, the people could not be moved from their homeland

He who has been inflicted with severe wounds for two wears and still resisting

No wounds can hurt him anymore

And more important

No one can stop him anymore

History has never known such a revolution before

A revolution that unveiled the hypocrisy of the whole world
