If the Injustice Becomes Public

If the Injustice Becomes Public

By Tarif Youssef Agha

If the injustice becomes public,

Then expect a revolution that turns blood into rivers

And if corruption becomes a state policy,

Then don’t be surprised if blood becomes seas

If injustice and corruption infect a country,

They will ring the bells of the volcanic revolution

Oppression may prolong the lives of dictators,

But the victory will, after all, shake the hands of the freedom fighters

Oppression may impose scare for seconds,

But the people will always rise and fight back

Dignity, will, and wisdom, if they unite,

They, together, form a mighty army

History hasn’t documented a failed revolution,

The people always defeat the butcher

But when a country is burned, and its people are forced away,

While the world is watching, then I call it a shame

Oh my Homeland, every one practiced injustice on you,

Injustice came even from your neighbors

Even those who wore the cloth of Angels,

When they undressed, they revealed their identity; devils and thugs

But, it doesn’t matter how long the darkness will last,

The people will bring the day light back

And it doesn’t matter how high the dictator will make the prisons’ walls,

The people will, at the end, bring those walls down
