You were busy destroying minarets

You were busy destroying minarets

Lamenting the minaret of the Omayyad Mosque in Aleppo

By Tarif Youssef Agha

You were busy destroying minarets

After you destroyed complete cities

You took the people and the buildings as hostages

You forgot that you have to pay back

***

You were busy committing crimes

Until you were called sons of sin

Therefore, you were hated by all of us

All of us wished you the execution stand

***

You were busy robbing

Until you forgot the case

Do you know what the case was?

The people, you sons of hor

***

You were busy corrupting

Until you bankrupted the country

And how did you bankrupt the country?

You eat it as though you were grasshoppers

***

You were busy barking

Until any medicine became useless with you

Until you became the disease

Until you became the homelands’ worst evil

***

You were busy killing

Torturing and dragging

Until you made the boot your icon

No one expects any thing different from illiterate creatures like you

***

You were busy backstabbing

Until you left Satan behind

Who ever made his people slaves,

The people will explode like a volcano in his face

***

Oh Omayyad Mosque minaret

Don’t be sad as the Syrian people are still strong

They will avenge you and the Omary’s mosque minaret

And all the martyrs of the that proud homeland
