Don't blame Bachar!

Don’t blame Bachar!

A Poem translation

Don’t blame Bachar

He only did what he learned to do

“Oh my son, all problems can be solved by killing”

That was what his father taught him

“Oh my friend, do whatever you want”

That was how the whole world used to deal with him

The world turned a blind eye on his father’s massacres

And promised him Syria for his family for ever

“A rose in the desert” the world said about his wife

“The president of the youth” it said about him

The world made him ‘the legend of the forbidding’

It crowned him with the crown of the ‘resistance’

And after all the horrifying deeds he committed

The world is still sending him envoys to talk to him

Don’t blame Bachar as he learned

That Israel will never turn him down

And that if Israel is in his side

No one, from the East or from the West, can touch him

Two regimes based on racism and oppression

Each one of them guaranteed to protect and support the other

But, the time to pay the bill has arrived

He and his supporters will pay the price of the committed crimes

We should also blame ourselves, because our patience with him

Caused all the mess we have now
