The Syrian Ceasefire
The Syrian Ceasefire
By Tarif Youssef Agha
The (Assad) regime announced its acceptance to the ceasefire,
Thinking that the Syrian people will return to the barn on their knees
That they will kiss his feet and show regret,
And that they will crawl back to him begging for forgiveness
He forgot that this is Syria,
The nation that always stands tall
The nation of (the heroic battle of) Miyssaloon stormed the squares,
It said its word, and the word was as clear as the bright sun
This is a nation that has always been in love with gallantry and glory,
And has been a manufacturer of history landmarks
It has always been a leader in sparking revolutions,
And in confronting the herds of invaders
A regime that united with the enemies of the Homeland,
Can’t be a regime that resists the enemies of the Homeland
The nation that will harvest the victory is the one
That is planting martyrs, day and night
All Syria, young and old, returned today to the streets,
And said “Oh world, listen to me”
My revolution would stay peaceful, if you didn’t
Plug your ears and didn’t defend the oppressor
If you didn’t support the immature inheritor (Assad),
I wouldn’t switch from the peaceful protests to firing cannons
But no matter what, I will never stop my revolution,
And I will keep knocking on the door of freedom, by my hand and my gun

As soon as the ceasefire started in Syria, the people took to the streets and restarted the peaceful demonstrations they started 5 years ago asking for the removal of Assad and its regime, reminding the world that the revolution became armed only because the world turned its back to it.
