Doomsday Is No Doubt Near

Doomsday is no doubt near

By Tarif Youssef Agha

When a whole nation is slaughtered in front of cameras,

And all that it gets are committees and conferences

When no one cares but only about the return of the Nuns,

While millions of people are forced to flee to tents,

Then Doomsday is no doubt near

***

When they find excuses for a butcher committing massacres,

And a war criminal runs for presidency

When pimps and whores become part of the ruling circle,

And life goes back to the dark ages,

Then Doomsday is no doubt near

***

When the thugs are called the greatest,

And the dumb become PhD’s and scientists

When a leader is treated like he is a donation from heaven,

And when a gang is called a government,

Then Doomsday is no doubt near

***

When a mob boss is called a president,

And its members are called ministers

When militias and assassins are called a national army,

And the killer is found innocent while the victim is to be accused,

Then Doomsday is no doubt near

***

When our cities are destroyed on the heads of the people

In order that Israel keeps the water of the Golan Heights

When the Russians rob us and the Iranians occupy us,

While the world floods us with promises and dreams,

Then the Doomsday is no doubt near

***

When they called a revolution a (civil war),

And the torment is called a (crisis)

When the misery of a nation is called an (issue),

And they invent new words to redefine crime,

Then Doomsday is no doubt near

***
