Every sailing session allot of people pulling in there boats out, taking out the bung, then draining them out of water from inside the hull.

I shake my head in disbelief...

10 year plus of RC sailing, and I can tell you one thing,

Water and Electronics dont mix !

Last Sunday i was sailing with Dusty and he gave some us some great advice.

RTV up your cable into your winch so water does not get inside the winch.

My mind was on other things at the time, like the race start,

so not fully thinking about my reply, and what he was telling us,

I asked why would there be water in the hull to effect my winch ???

In hind sight, he telling all of us people who have leaking boats have been getting water inside the winch cable too

So this is the only Solution - Find your all your friggen leaks and repair them today !!!!!!

How good is your tapeing ?? Is it really waterproof ?? Test it !!!

I do not have a bung in any of my hulls and there are all bone dry after sailing on windy days. (if not i trace leak before my next session)

NOTE - i do take the small battery cover off straight after sailing and keep the hull aired out. Humidity moisture can get everywhere too.

So How to find leaks in your hull.

Either remove all your electronics and half fill the hull with water. Seal it up as if your were going sailing and rotate. If your tape fails then you need a better system.

or if you do not have time to remove all your electronics you can try this,

30 percent dish washing soap. 70 water. put a tube in the rear bung hole and Extremely lightly blow into hull. Just enough to move tape move up.

DO NOT BLOW HULL UP LIKE A BALLOON AS YOU WILL BLOW APART YOUR HULL REAL EASY.

Then as you paint brush mixture everywhere and softly blow in tube at the same time

any air escaping from the hull or tape will make one inch beautifully bubble.

Happy searching
